Some hospitals in the United States are marking up costs approximately 10 times the Medicare-allowed costs, according to a study published in Health Affairs. This equals a markup of more than 1000% for the same medical services. The researchers examined had the fourth highest mark-up over the actual cost of services among the 20 Florida hospitals on the list. It also ranked eighth among 50 united states hospitals that charge the most for their services.
